“The track I always play to rescue a dancefloor. The groove on it is ridiculous and the legendary sample from James Brown’s The Boss gets everyone.” — Skream

I’m not quite sure what happened to Garage. Did it run its course? I don’t know, but I still feel like it could take over.

The germans have a word ‘zeitgeist’ (time spirit, the spirit of the times), the attitude, the ethos, the energy that moves a period of time along.
There should be a word for the spirit that permeates gospel, funk, house and everything in between and moves it forward. That undefinable thing that separates the truly funky from the not funky. It has nothing to do with syncopation, counterpoint, or formulas that ‘progressive’ Jazz musicians and shit pop producers put together. Funkgeist?
I don’t know what to call it but the UK has had the lion’s share of it for a minute.

“The track I’ll be opening my next DJ set with. It’s more of a melodic soundscape piece with no drums. It’s the piece to reset the vibes so it means I can really build the dynamics of my set from there.” – Skream
